Deputy Minister of Communications: “BOT Fee of Vietnam is the cheapest in Southeast Asia”

Talking to the media on 12nd April on BOT charging base, Deputy Minister of Transportation Nguyen Hong Truong said, the construction of infrastructure projects under BOT form, Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Finance the approved financial plan, a road map increasing fees for 3 years based on the increase of the CPI across the country and return to ensure the interests of the parties. With the toll booths on the highway, most are collected at 1,500 VND/km for the standard car, except for the Hanoi - Hai Phong collected at 2,000 VND/km. The national highway BOT stations collected popularly at 30,000-35,000 VND/time with standard car, some other stations are 45,000 VND/car.

According to Deputy Minister Truong, compared with other countries in the Southeast Asian region, the BOT road toll of Vietnam is "the cheapest" and also lower than many other countries. Currently the average fee in China is one yuan/km, while the European countries is about 0.5-1 USD/km.

Mr.Truong said, the majority of BOT station on the same route are guaranteed a minimum distance is 70 km/ station, but some are 50-60 km because of the unsuitable placement station. The Ministry of Transportation has reviewed and displaced some stations to be suitable to the provision.

Referring to investors Cau Gie highway - Ninh Binh has proposed to increase fee to 2,000 VND/km, Mr. Truong information, the Ministry temporarily does not approve the increased fees for this project and considers appropriate time to increase after 1st June.

The fee increasing on Highway 5 makes many trucks going into 391 provincial highway (Hai Duong) to dodge charging station, Deputy Minister Truong said, the Ministry of Communications has requested Hai Duong province manages of overloaded vehicles on provincial highway routes. In fact, investor of Ha Noi - Hai Phong highway has reduced fee level for truck and container up to 20 feet, only increases fee for cars, vans and passenger cars ...

Hai Duong’s provincial leaders proposed ministries and investors consider reducing fees for container truck circulating on Highway 5 and Highway Hanoi - Hai Phong, decreased overload status on Highway 391.
